PARTY AT THE FARM
supporting two fantastic
local South West charities

why not....
wine & dine like kings & queens, party like rock stars, dance the night away.. ..and in the process, raise funds ?

The marquee has been donated along with all its amenities, fixtures and fittings and so all funds raised  from  ticket sales and auction prizes will be for the benefit of these two charities. Volunteers & helpers all give their time for free, guests bring their own food and drink and so every penny raised will get to these worthwhile, hard-working, local charities.

The Balsam Centre

Helping people in and around Wincanton

to lead happy and healthy lives

We are an independent local charity, now 23 years old, with a strong reputation for delivering community-based health and wellbeing services, especially mental health support.

We work with hundreds of people each year with very real needs.   These range from loneliness to domestic abuse, debt, parenting, family issues, long term health conditions, and common mental health problems.  We have developed expertise in different areas of mental health support, with young people’s counselling, maternal mental health, and ecotherapy being just some examples of the activity we offer that people tell us enable them to live their lives and move from ‘surviving to thriving’.

We have a Mens' Shed, a focus on early years and parenting, a dementia group and many activities including volunteering that support employment and skills development.  We work in partnership with a range of organisations including Citizens Advice, Public Health, Job Centre Plus, the NHS and Somerset Council to bring together and blend specialist skills and knowledge under one roof. The model we have developed of ‘hyper local’ health and wellbeing is one that is increasingly being recognised as the sector ideal for delivering effective, accessible, holistic services.

Matts Respite Retreats

Offering respite breaks for those affected by cancer - and their families

Matt Parsons and his wife Melissa lived here at New Park Farm Cottage for many years. Matt died of cancer aged 38, 8 days before the birth of their daughter Faith. Before he died Matt and Melissa had decided they would set up a charity to provide families who are living with cancer with “respite retreats’ (or mini holidays) during their treatment cycles –something they had benefited from themselves first hand.

There is plenty of evidence that people living with cancer do better when they have holistic care for their wellbeing and relationships, alongside the medical care. It is well known that breaks/retreats away from home can help individuals and their families rest, relax, recoup and repair in these painful times.

After Matts death, she established the charity and personally bought a static caravan which she loans out  for free ..for all but 2 of the available weeks a year (the park closes in winter) for the use of beneficiaries suffering from cancer. The caravan is situated at The Haven, Weymouth Bay Holiday Park.

On average they host 45 beneficiary families a year from all over UK, referred to them by the NHS and cancer charities. The testimonials (available on the website) are very moving and provide evidence of the impact the charity has on families at the most stressful of times
